Building Your Brand: A Guide for New Businesses

Why Building A Brand Is So Important For New Businesses

When you are looking to build a business, one of the most important things that you are going to want to focus on is building out your brand. Building a brand is essential for new businesses in order to effectively establish themselves in the marketplace. Without building a brand, you are essentially putting yourself at a competitive disadvantage among the competition. After all, it is very likely that your competition is actively working to build and establish their own brand. Because of this, you want to focus on brand building strategies and techniques that will allow you to dominate the marketplace. Below, we will discuss some of the reasons why you want to build a brand and some effective strategies that you can use to do so.

Why Building A Brand Is Essential:

1. Pricing.

One of the biggest reasons building a brand is essential for any business is because it can help you establish better pricing. A lot of businesses make the mistake of not effectively building out a brand which can have a negative impact on positioning within the marketplace which can alter the pricing that you are able to establish with your brand. Because of this, your business might be forced to compete based on price alone with your competition which is typically a race to the bottom. You never want to force your business to compete with pricing alone. The best way to do this is through proper branding techniques and strategies.

2. Awareness.

Another good reason you are going to want to be sure to focus on brand building efforts is that it can help generate awareness for your business, products, and services. Because of this, you will be able to reduce the amount of money that you are forced to spend on marketing and advertising. Once you generate a good amount of awareness, you will be able to drive traffic much easier to your website which can have a compounding effect on your business as a whole.

3. Loyalty.

One of the biggest reasons you should be building a brand is to establish brand loyalty. Brand loyalty is a very powerful tool that you can leverage. By building out a brand that people love, you will be able to generate sales through your loyal following. This alone can really propel your business to new heights.

As you can see, building out a brand is essential if you are just getting started in the marketplace. Now that we have gone over some of the reasons you are going to want to be sure to build out a strong brand, we will discuss some of the key brand building tips that you will want to implement.

Brand Building Tips:

1. Social Media.

Social media should be at the forefront of your branding strategy. Social media has changed the game for marketers. Because you are able to effectively communicate with your prospective customers and target market like never before, it is a great way to establish authority in a niche, make connections, offer value to your audience, and more. This alone is a great way to build a successful brand and a lot of businesses utilize this strategy alone.

2. Consistency.

Another thing that you are going to want to focus on when you are building out a brand is consistency. You want everything to be consistent. Not only your brand message, but you should be consistent with material quality, pricing, design, and more.

Overall, there are a lot of different things that you can do to build out a successful brand. By following the tips above, you should be able to do so effectively.

Why Digital Marketing Matters

Why Digital Marketing Matters

Remember billboards?

I do.

As a young kid in Virginia, my experiences from the back seat of our car mostly alternated between: “Are we there yet?” and “Look, McDonalds, can we go?”, whenever one of those 10 foot billboards popped up on the side of the road.

Growing up with Immigrant parents from the Philippiness, the answer to both of those would, most times, be the same: “No.”

If you noticed Billboard were one of the most powerful forms of marketing 10 years ago.

Unfortunately, it’s now dead

Ever wonder why?

The reason is because with new technology constantly being produced from the newest Iphone to the next hand held device or even those portable dvd players we placed in our cars not too long ago. Passengers will find no reason to look outside of the window of their vehicle. Even the thought of self driving cars seems not too far away now, which means no one will be looking at road. Elon Musk suggest this will be a reality within the next 5 years! Which all in all means the use of Billboards will be non existent.

The share of people spending more time using electronic devices is only going up from here.

With Americans spending 11+ hours on electronic devices, every single day, there’s not much left. Sooner or later it seems like those movies about spending all our free time in a VR world will be true. And all of our time will be spent in the digital world.

Voice Search Algorithm in 2018

2018 SEO Trends: Understanding Mobile Voice Search Algorithms

Voice Search Algorithms on the rise!

The way people search for information online is drastically changing. Within the past 5 years there has been a transition from information being searched from a laptop to a mobile device. According to Hitwise, nearly 60 percent of searches are now performed on a mobile device. Now, the way people search for information has changed yet again. With new technology such as Google Home and Amazon echo, the idea of using voice search techniques is becoming common. It’s becoming such a hot trend that Apple has produced Siri, Google Voice for Android, Cortana for Microsoft and Alexa for Amazon products are all competing to be the top device of 2018.

The reason for this is that people have realized that searching with their voice is a lot more efficient than typing onto a small screen. Think about it, it’s much easier for someone to ask Cortana or Siri to play, “Just The Way You Are” by Bruno Mars than it is to type it. The technology has allowed a more natural way to interact with machines using a conversational voice. As SEO’s we must always adapt to the new trends and this is a great opportunity to adjust one’s marketing strategy to account for the rise in Voice Search. Just take a look at this 2016 Internet Trends Report

How to Optimize for Voice Search? Long-Tailed Searches are your new best friend!

Studies have shown that voice searches are typically longer than text queries. For example, it’s more common to for mobile voice search engines to hear, “What is the weather outside right now?” Rather than when typing people will typically just type “Today’s weather” This brings an opportunity for Long-Tailed Keyword Searches to come back into search engine algorithm!

The Good and the Bad

How does this help SEO’s? Well, first it means that ranking content for a specific long tailed makes an SEO’s job much easier. Long-Tailed Keyword ranking is much easier than a more specific search due to the lesser amount of competition.

The downfall to this new trend is that developing a strategy for what specific Long-Tailed Keyword Search one wants to rank for will be difficult. Let’s face it, there’s no true data that has been released that tells us what people are searching most for via voice search. If two individuals wanted to order pizza one could say, “Find nearby Brooklyn Style Pizza” while another could voice search, “Order Thin Crust Pizza Now” This is why creating a marketing strategy will require a lot more research into a specific industry, before pursuing actions.

Here at MetaLinkd, we are excited to take on this task and find ways to be more optimized and more well versed in this specific technique. What kind of algorithms do you think search engines will pick up next? How much more do you think voice search will affect the industry? Comment below your thoughts!

Creating a Digital Marketing Plan can be difficult. Ensuring the correct digital marketing strategies have been implemented for Voice Search can be even more difficult. In that case, you will probably need the service of an SEO expert.

Why Website Speed Is Important

Why Website Speed Is Important for SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

Most people think that design is the most important aspect to a website. You can have the best looking website, but if the website speed isn’t sufficient how will anyone be able to enjoy the content

In a competitive field where SEO is the top priority for marketers, it’s paramount that you start off on the right foot. Website design will only get you so far, so optimizing your website through SEO practices will result in organic traffic.

Website Speed is Essential

First impressions are important and if your website isn’t loading properly not only will visitors leave your website, but its unlikely that they will return. Lets face it most people have a short fuse when it comes to their patience. They want to be able to navigate a website whether it’s on their phone or through their computer, so it’s essential to make sure the site page is running at proper speed.

More than 70% of the pages recently analyzed by Google in a recent study took seven seconds to load content above the fold.

Websites that functioned below the fold were listed to taking up to ten seconds to load. And on average a website takes about 22 seconds to load. Statistics also say that if a website takes longer than three seconds via mobile the user will exit from the page. Having a website that doesn’t have proper website speed will obliterate your SEO rankings. As page load time increases from one to seven seconds, the chances of a mobile site visitor bouncing skyrockets to 113%.

Luckily, you can use Google’s test my site tool to increase speed.

Before you’ll have to enter your URL This allows Google Search Console to identify the errors in your web page and tips for optimization purposes.

Once you have entered in your site’s address, click “Analyze.” Then, you’ll be able to view your page’s site speed score for mobile and desktop.

And then you can click on  “Desktop” or “Mobile” buttons to toggle your view.

It’s important to consider mobile view versus desktop because people are more likely to search things up on their phone.

Obtaining an optimized mobile and desktop website can be difficult. Converting that into a website with a fast website speed might be even more difficult. In that case, you will probably need the service of an SEO expert.

Tips for a Young Professional

2017 brought a lot of change into my life as I transitioned to a Young Professional and 2018 hasn’t slowed down either. It has put me in a situation where I had no choice, but to grow in such a short period of time. I had graduated college, moved into a new city  by myself and became financially independent. I got my first post-graduate job and now I help run MetaLinkd SEO & Digital Marketing. This year has flown by and has had it’s ups and downs throughout the entire process. Here are some personal and financial tips to consider for that transitional stage after college – Matt

1. Budget, Budget, Budget

Moving to a new area where the cost of living was substantially higher and being financially independent was a recipe for a financial disaster. After speaking with a lot of other young professionals in the area they recommended me to budget using mobile apps. There are several good ones, but the one that I personally use is Mint. And it’s free! I constantly have to ask myself what I want versus what I need. It’s pretty easy to save here and there. I tell myself that I don’t need Starbucks everyday or I try to buy groceries just for the week so I consume everything before obtaining more. Everyone has different financials goals whether its short term or long term, so save accordingly. Keep track of how much you make a month and how much of that paycheck is going towards essentials such as rent, utilities, groceries, etc.

2. Networking creates future opportunities

As cliche as it sounds it’s not about what you know, but it’s who you know. One suggestion that I would have is to network as much as possible. I’m fortunate enough to be near the Washington DC area, so I have really immersed myself with several opportunities to put myself out there. Even if you’re located in a smaller town there are always opportunities to be taken advantage of. There are plenty of organizations, sports teams, local business associations to join within a community. And if there isn’t, this is a great chance to create one for that community. I joined a young professional organization in hope of looking for a mentor to help guide me through this transitional process post college. I’ve met some really outstanding people that have helped me grow substantially as an individual and get in contact with other people. Other ways to network is using the power of social media. Look into Facebook Groups, utilize LinkedIn and look into other great platforms such as Google Plus.

3. Life is a marathon and not a race

Having a long term patience for your goals is the right mentality to have. No one is going to get a million website views in one day. The process to achieve your goals will take hard work and time. Good results may happen after a couple weeks or months, but great work will occur with years of hard work and dedication. I I had to learn to be OK with where I was in life and to to realize small short term victories are only going to lead to the long term wins. It’s OK to be frustrated at first, just be sure to keep moving forward with your growth and goals.

4. It’s all about balance

My workday week got repetitive way too fast. My days seemed to be a rinse and repeat kind of feeling and I started to feel miserable. It’s really important to be able to balance responsibility with fun.Whether it’s going for a hike or reading a book go find what helps you relax.I highly recommend going to events that are a combination of both. A company Happy Hour where you could potentially meet influential people in your life or an opportunity to unwind on the weekend and give back to the community by doing volunteer work.
