Why You Should Use PBNs In 2018

PBN’s (Private Blog Networks) are still viable for SEO in 2018!

PBNs or Private Blog Networks are a collection of blogs or sites often controlled by one publisher, with the goal of building up links within the network as a way to help particular content rank better in Google. PBNs are a popular strategy in the field of Digital Marketing and SEO that many have mixed feelings on. Some believe it’s a waste of time, effort and capital while others believe PBNs are essential for ranking. Our SEO & Digital Marketing experts believe PBNs are an essential strategy to help a website initially get ranked. When used properly this technique will help a website show up on the 1st page of Google.

Here’s why you should use them:

1. Control

WIth PBNs you decide how they will be used. You specifically decide what anchor text is used in each PBN. By properly marketing and strategizing the specific anchor text, how often it is used and where they are used within these PBNs will allow users to create one of the most powerful link building strategies. Another factor that is important is that users will have the ability to find PBNs on their own. Some people think purchasing PBNs is very costly, but with the right knowledge, it’s possible to find them at affordable and great prices.

A convenient factor for using PBNs is if a website gets penalized with a manual penalty, a penalty based on Googles manual review/algorithm, then users can just change the links on their PBNs or delete them as they wish.

If users get backlinking done on websites they do not own and receive a penalty it may be a hassle to remove those links and anchor text.

2. Less Stress/Time Building Relationships

I’m sure it’s something most people have done in this field. Looking for other digital marketing businesses to trade services with, interact with, exchange information with and link building off one another. Depending on the kind of worker one may be, link building may be the more efficient strategy to help rank up content fast. Just in case users aren’t that type of worker, here’s an idea of how to build better outreaching skills for backlinking.

3. Rank Up Faster!

As stated above, PBNs are a great source to have your content ranked on the 1st page of Google! I know most people are asking how, and that’s through the process of using old trusted websites that have already maintained some sort of authority (usually within the same niche of the content) and leveraging them to backlink to the content you want. Most SEO experts have realized that it’s quite difficult to obtain these kinds of powerful links organically or through outreaching to other companies.

Another powerful tool is to know that when purchasing PBNs they do not all have to related to the content that is being ranked. For example, typically if we want a local bakery’s website to be ranked we would look into purchasing PBNs that have to deal with something similar to a cake recipe blog. Actually, if a website has already built enough authority and has a pretty good trust flow, the PBN doesn’t have to be in a similar niche to the content.

Relying on only one SEO technique is NOT recommended. PBNs are useful for getting content ranked quick, but other strategies will be needed in order to keep content ranked high.

Obtaining PBNs be difficult. Ensuring the correct digital marketing strategies have been implemented with these PBNs can be even more difficult. In that case, you will probably need the service of an SEO expert.

Why Website Speed Is Important

Why Website Speed Is Important for SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

Most people think that design is the most important aspect to a website. You can have the best looking website, but if the website speed isn’t sufficient how will anyone be able to enjoy the content

In a competitive field where SEO is the top priority for marketers, it’s paramount that you start off on the right foot. Website design will only get you so far, so optimizing your website through SEO practices will result in organic traffic.

Website Speed is Essential

First impressions are important and if your website isn’t loading properly not only will visitors leave your website, but its unlikely that they will return. Lets face it most people have a short fuse when it comes to their patience. They want to be able to navigate a website whether it’s on their phone or through their computer, so it’s essential to make sure the site page is running at proper speed.

More than 70% of the pages recently analyzed by Google in a recent study took seven seconds to load content above the fold.

Websites that functioned below the fold were listed to taking up to ten seconds to load. And on average a website takes about 22 seconds to load. Statistics also say that if a website takes longer than three seconds via mobile the user will exit from the page. Having a website that doesn’t have proper website speed will obliterate your SEO rankings. As page load time increases from one to seven seconds, the chances of a mobile site visitor bouncing skyrockets to 113%.

Luckily, you can use Google’s test my site tool to increase speed.

Before you’ll have to enter your URL This allows Google Search Console to identify the errors in your web page and tips for optimization purposes.

Once you have entered in your site’s address, click “Analyze.” Then, you’ll be able to view your page’s site speed score for mobile and desktop.

And then you can click on  “Desktop” or “Mobile” buttons to toggle your view.

It’s important to consider mobile view versus desktop because people are more likely to search things up on their phone.

Obtaining an optimized mobile and desktop website can be difficult. Converting that into a website with a fast website speed might be even more difficult. In that case, you will probably need the service of an SEO expert.

How We Can Leverage Authenticity in Today’s Market

Marketing and Branding is About Understanding Where the is Attention

This speaks truth at many levels. More eyes on your content means more potential conversions. But in this day and age, the competition on social media platforms is insane and this can be overwhelming for many who are just getting started (heck, it’s still overwhelming for me at times, too).

From my experience of creating content for my personal brand as well as other brands, it’s the authenticity and “rawness” of a piece of content that grabs people’s attention.

Breaking It Down

We can simplify the thought process behind maximizing our potentials on our social media platform by focusing on

1. where are people’s attention?

2. how we can get people’s attention organically?

Before we break down those two pieces, it’s equally important to understand how people behave in this market.

Part 1: Giving Value First

First of all, the audience dislikes commercials (maybe even hate) and content that sound more like infomercials than anything.

Let’s think about it, what’s the first thing we do when the commercials come on during a sports game?

We immediately pull out our phones. Why would that be?

My thought on this is that commercials simply do not provide enough value that is worth the audiences’ time.

This brings us to our first point: where are people’s attention?

When a piece of content, whether it’s a blog, video, or audio, gives tremendous amount of value to the targeted audience, people will put all their attention into it.

Not only will they watch/read/listen through the entire length, they’ll comment, share, and promote the content.

I don’t know about you, but this sounds like free marketing. We wouldn’t pay a penny for an ad in this type of situation. That piece of content will spread on its own.

What was the secret? No secret. It simply gave tremendous amount of value.

Part 2: The Value of Authenticity

People can very easily differentiate when someone is being authentic (or not). It’s a huge turnoff for everyone when people are being inauthentic.

So, how can we show our authenticity through our content or our outreach efforts on social media platforms?

By being authentic, I don’t mean that we should share all of our experiences from our daily lives.

Rather, it’s about being genuine about your actions and words.

Commenting “Hey nice shirt!” on an Instagram post when it’s obviously a picture of the cookies the person made sounds very inauthentic.

Conversely, if you direct message someone and give them a tip on how they could increase the conversions on their website by tweaking the designs (we wrote a blog on this previously) is tremendously valuable and authentic.

People will most likely appreciate your thought and effort of giving them such feedback for free. Not only that, they’ll most likely look through your profile, scroll through all your content, and maybe even click the link to your website.

In the end, you are grabbing their attention organically and building a real relationship with the person.

Final Points

Giving value first is a must. So is being authentic in your words and actions.

While this consumes a lot more effort than running a few ads on Facebook (which is also valuable if done correctly), they will definitely help businesses and brands grow in the long run.

Even though we live in a digital age, we can’t ignore the fact that people will always prefer human interaction over talking with a bot of some sort.

Make or Break Your Career (On Social Media)

The Impact of Social Media Presence

Social Media can be like a double edged sword, it’s important to think through one’s actions before posting online. Social media is a cluster of information that ranges from political arguments, current events, pop culture and more. To a great marketer it’s an opportunity to network, link and stay connected to some of the most influential people. Having not only a strong presence and a positive one will help a company grow. After obtaining information from social media experts (specifically Twitter) here are some tips for social media presence.

3 Things to Avoid on Social Media

Posting Without Thinking

Think before you hit send, says Kathi Kruse, owner of social media and digital marketing agency Kruse Control. . Many users post obscure or provocative images, inappropriate videos and offensive thoughts on Twitter, she says, all of which can be gravely damaging to a marketing career.

“I’m not saying people shouldn’t have their personal opinions about things politically or otherwise, but what you say and do online speaks for you,” she says. “A lot of people don’t realize that because it’s just the click of a button. But the reality is, you can see [the Twitter post] for the rest of your life.”

For example, Twitter posts can stir up at the worst possible moment—many are archived by the Library of Congress—and will hinder a marketer from obtaining a position. Imagine what backlash most athletes and celebrities get over tweets.

In a business aspect, here at MetaLinkd it is recommended that a non-partisan approach is taken when it comes to political manners. Though someone can feel a certain way towards an issue it is best to keep business and personal separate.

Only Talking About Yourself

Social Media can be like a small get together and most people hate listening to those who only talk about themselves. Remember that social media is a huge part of branding and followers want to have informative, interesting or appealing items on their feed. Think about what services you can offer to them in all aspects including social media. Try to be innovative, fresh and new when posting content which can include SOME things about yourself.

Janet Fouts, a social media strategist and CEO of Tatu Digital Media, says using Twitter solely for self-aggrandizement is one of the biggest mistakes professionals can make. Instead, marketers should join other conversations and share other people’s posts, especially those who are valuable for their marketing network.

“Respecting the intelligence of other people and sharing their information aligns marketers with the people they respect,” Fouts says. “When they do that, they can really raise their status by associating with people who are super smart.”

Speaking as an Authority If You Aren’t an Authority

Don’t be a know-it-all, says Lissa Duty, social media coach and co-founder of Rocks Digital. If a marketing professional, perhaps feeling intimidated by the experience of other marketers, speaks like an authority on Twitter when he’s more of a dilettante, other marketers will see through his pretentiousness, Duty says. To make an impact as an influencer is a great goal, but it can’t be forced. One must know when to be a leader and when to be a follower. Constantly be open to learning new information and not just give it.

We get it: Creating quality content for Social Media can be difficult. Managing Social Media and improving brand image can be even more difficult. In that case you will probably need the service of an SEO expert.

3 Misconceptions of SEO and Their Truths

Althouth Search Engine Optimization (SEO) isn’t something that will drive conversions for business overnight, SEO is an essential component of a successful digital marketing strategy. With that being said, we wanted to share 3 common misconceptions that non-digital marketers might have regarding SEO.

1. SEO is a one-time adjustment

This is far from the truth. Just as marketing strategies need to change as consumer behavior changes, SEO needs revamping frequently to comply to the frequent updates that Google makes to ensure search engines are providing better user experience.

Another essential component of having a successful SEO strategy is making sure we are consistent about optimizing the pages and producing content with effective links on a regular basis. The battle does not end after we attain the top spot as others will continuously fight to take the spot.

2. SEO happens overnight

Just as many things that are worthy of investment take time to build, SEO is just the same in that it takes time for pages to start rising in ranks. While there may be some marketing agencies that offer services that guarantee overnight results, their efforts may be short-lived. Search engine optimization is more than just keywords and links: it takes consistent effort of producing quality content and ample adjustment to ensure good user experience (especially on mobile).

3. SEO is all about links

More links does not necessarily mean better ranking on the search results. “What does links have anything to do with ranking?” you might ask. Links help show Google the authenticity of your site, so links from trustworthy sites pointing to your website is a really good sign for Google. However, not all links are effective, especially if they are coming from random sites that have little authority/authenticity, low quality content, and minimal traffic. To put it simply, a single backlink from a highly valued website (e.g. Financial Times) is a lot more effective than dozens of low-quality links from unknown websites. Here’s a good resource from Searchengineland.com to find out more about what makes a link “bad”.

I mentioned user experience a few times, and proper web design and structure is essential part of providing good user experience. Check out our last blog post for a few simple fixes for your website design to provide better experience for your clients.
