As a young kid in Virginia, my experiences from the back seat of our car mostly alternated between: “Are we there yet?” and “Look, McDonalds, can we go?”, whenever one of those 10 foot billboards popped up on the side of the road.
Growing up with Immigrant parents from the Philippiness, the answer to both of those would, most times, be the same: “No.”

The reason is because with new technology constantly being produced from the newest Iphone to the next hand held device or even those portable dvd players we placed in our cars not too long ago. Passengers will find no reason to look outside of the window of their vehicle. Even the thought of self driving cars seems not too far away now, which means no one will be looking at road. Elon Musk suggest this will be a reality within the next 5 years! Which all in all means the use of Billboards will be non existent.
The share of people spending more time using electronic devices is only going up from here.
With Americans spending 11+ hours on electronic devices, every single day, there’s not much left. Sooner or later it seems like those movies about spending all our free time in a VR world will be true. And all of our time will be spent in the digital world.
